By melissa benjamin when someone mentions the name katrina avalon, there's no telling what comes to mind depending on who you are. we all have our katrina stories from throughout the years, and sadly we have all come together as a family to mourn the loss of an amazing and remarkable person who touched our hearts in more ways than one. on tuesday, july 25th, katrina was taken from our lives just as swiftly as she entered them. being the kind of person she was, it was no surprise to anyone around her that katrina passed having left our world with complications of an enlarged heart. anyone who knew katrina knew she would give you the shirt off her back- let alone the wig off her head if she thought you wanted or needed it. she was also the kind of person who would walk by and everyone would notice. in face or not, she waltzed into the room and turned heads as she passed- never lacking being witty and verbal, she always had an interesting conversation with everyone. stepping into her world was like being struck by a lightening bolt- there was no mistaking it and no forgetting it. she touched our hearts in a way we would never forget. whether you knew her for 20 years or 20 seconds, katrina's spirit left an imprint on your soul in some shape, form or fashion forever. hopefully we will take with us the joys of our times together, the courage from our fears overcome, and the love from our friendships that have developed. there are too many foes in this world to be making enemies out of each other. we must always remember we are only as invincible as the person standing next to us, so we must take care of each other and not take each other for granted because you never know when it is our time to go. although katrina was not invincible herself, she will always be remembered for her vivacious spirit and larger than life imagination, and we are all better off for having known or encountering her.
